Movies & Food

Where do the weekends go? 2 days is NOT enough! That being said it was a pretty relaxing and fun filled weekend.

Friday night I rented a couple movies, picked up some of our fav cheeses and we had a movie night.

aged cave gruyere
Baked Brie with Maple Syrup & Walnuts
We LOVE our wine and cheese nights!!
Purple Cowboy Wine (one of Hubby's Birthday Gifts! Yum!)

I rented two movies... one for him and one for her.  To my surprise Hubby chose my movie to watch.

I'd give this movie a solid 7.  It doesn't make you think too hard, its cute, but also touching and sad at times.  It has the romance story with a little adventure, overall a good end of the week flick! Oh and Zac is hot!

Saturday morning I went for lunch with my good friend and fellow model Leah. It had been so long so it was really great to catch up with her!

After lunch, I had a few hours to spare and decided I would break my rule of no Christmas decorating until after my birthday this year.  Because a) I am feeling very in the Christmas spirit what with our 4 feet of snow and b) because I don't really care about my birthday this year! This how it always is when you get older? If so I am not a fan. and c) because the first Sunday of Advent was yesterday which means we are technically allowed to start celebrating the birth of Jesus!

So here are some pictures of my decor!

Upstairs Christmas Tree! I forgot to take a pic of the other one!

Hubby's back and our niece Jordyn!

Yay our stockings get to hang on a fireplace this year!
After I was done decorating my 2 trees - the upstairs is my grown up coordinated tree with blue, silver and white and my basement living room Christmas tree is the fun kiddy one with all of our decorations from when we were little.

My niece Jordyn was dropped off just as I had finished and we were off to the movie theatre to see Tangled in 3D!

It was so much fun!! Jordyn was wearing the glasses to watch our regular TV which was pretty cute!!

It was SO cute! Love Disney movies!! AND LOVE 3D! I want a 3D TV but I will wait until they make them better and the price comes down! Then we just had supper and a coworker of Hubby's came over with his wife and more importantly blizzards! yum! lol

Sunday I took Jordyn to church with me and my mom, then we went for brunch and watched All Dogs Go to Heaven! I watched the Grey Cup game in which our Rough riders sadly lost... but who am I kidding? I am a part time fan and my sadness ended in about 1 minute! lol

This week I don't have a whole lot on the go...

Tonight - no real plans.

Tuesday - special appointment, maybe I will blog about it Wednesday! lol

Wednesday - Pampered Chef Party - maybe get some Christmas shopping done there?

Thursday - My 26th birthday... lol I think Hubby is planning a special night... which I think includes HP7!! YESSS

Friday - no real plans.

Saturday - birthday lunch with the fam, and birthday dinner/drinks with friends!

Sunday - no plans!

The new form of Birth Control = High Heels ?

I'm a sucker for high heel shoes... why? Because
1. they are sexy
2. they are slimming
3. they dress up an outfit
4. they give authority, power and confidence.

Yes you can get all of that from a high heel shoe... what I didn't know is that they can also make you infertile!!! Yes I said infertile. Okay so we all know that wearing high heels isn't particularly good for your feet, it can cause bunions, joint pain and hammer toes but they can also cause infertility, thinning hair and even mental health disorders such as schizophrenia!! WHAT!!

Yes continual use of high heels (or should we just call them High HELLS!) can cause problems with fertility, menstrual cycles and abdominal function! Why? How? The unnatural pelvic tilt caused by sky highs affects every single function in every joint and muscle throughout the body and can seriously affect the health of women that wear them regularly. When your pelvis tips forward, your organs end up resting on one another and you end up with a major intestinal problems! Yikes!

My hubby LOVE high heels so he was pretty upset to learn about this finding. He has always said he wish I had built in heels like Beowulf...

Natural High Heels
You see men find high heels sexier than your underwear!!!!!! Hard to believe but the facts prove it - I saw it on Slice last night.

Here are some hilarious pictures of models falling - hopefully this will make you laugh and bring some humour and laughter to this otherwise depressing blog post.

I wasn't sure if this was a model falling or some type of beast about to attack the model in the front left...the jury is still out on this one.

I see London, I see France...

What a gentleman trying to help the model up from the audience!

I enjoy how the girl in the front could care less that the girl behind her fell. lol

ouch this one looks like she could've broken her ankle!

Here are some of the weirdest high heels I've found...

I would imagine balancing in these might be difficult?

ouch - the ultimate birth control...
how would you even walk?

wire-high-heels
Speechless
Barfing... HATE spiders more than ANYTHING!

My favs
Okay so there are a lot of reasons not to wear heels, and there are a lot of very strange heels out there... so maybe we should all just walk around barefoot...

Birthdays, Engagements, Christmas & Weddings

Today couldn't be a better day! Last night I hosted a formal dinner party for 10!! My first ever real formal dinner party where I cooked all the food (aka not a pot luck style meal) it went off with a couple minor hitches... such as cutting my finger and bleeding all over the kitchen, and a few spilt drinks and broken glasses! hahaha Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the good food and company! Here are a few shots from the night...

Last night was also a particularly good night for one of my best friends Carly! Her boyfriend proposed!! He organized a romantic dinner for 2 at the Calgary Tower's Revolving Restaurant with no one else to be seen in the restaurant!

I am so excited for her, not only because she totally deserves it and her man treats her amazingly but also because I get to help plan her wedding!!! She will be enlisting the services of Old, New, Borrowed & Blue Wedding and Event Planning for their upcoming September 2011 wedding! YAY! Congrats you two! xo
Congrats to the future Mr. & Mrs. Phenix!!

So it's been a while since I've posted anything... the last you heard from me I was off to Vancouver. It was rocky start but we did finally make it to Vancouver on Saturday. There was some freak fog that wasn't allowing us to fly out... but we did make it there and had a blast with hubby's university hockey buddies! We celebrated his birthday by touring UBC campus followed by an amazing seafood dinner on Granville Island at the Sandbar...
This picture kind of makes it look like a hole in the wall but it was amazing food and beautiful on the inside!

West Coast 28th

My plan was to upload some photos of the delicious meals I've been making but I don't have my USB cord so that will have to wait... so far my week has been pretty good, with yesterday being Remembrance day I didn't have to work! It was nice to have the day off and I don't mean to be picky but I would've rather had today off. It was SO hard to get up for work today. Regardless, yesterday was a good day. I went for lunch with my good friend Karlene and her two kiddies! I cleaned the house; to prepare for our little house party tonight for hubby's birthday! We're having about 10 couple friends over - Hubby loves to tell everyone he only likes to hang out with couples now. So he's asked me to make a sign that says "Couple's Retreat" hahaha... its his birthday so I guess I should deliver. I also did laundry and packed for our trip to BC! We leave tomorrow morning at 10am!! I'm so excited because this is the first business trip in 2 and a half years that hubby is coming with me! We've been trying to make it work but nothing has so far... so when the opportunity came up to take him with me on his 28th birthday we jumped at it! Saturday we fly to Vancouver and then we are going to take the ferry to Victoria and spend the day/night with one of hubby's BFFs! It should be tons of fun. Then Sunday we'll ferry back to Vancouver and check into our hotel... The Sheraton Wall Centre!! We aren't too sure what we're going to do Sunday, but you see my hubby lived in Vancouver for 4 years (he played hockey for UBC and got his undergrad) so I'm sure he'll have lots of spots he wants to show me, so I'm leaving the planning up to him! There's been talk of the Vancouver Aquarium or a tour of UBC campus and all his fav hang outs! Regardless of what we do I just know its going to be so much fun!

I had to come back on and add a little something that I made for my hubby's birthday party.  You know how he asked for the "Couple's Retreat" banners? Well I'm just proving to be the best wifey ever... voila:
